The Effects of Climate Change on Migration Patterns: Analyzing Environmental Displacement
Abstract
This study examines the effects of climate change on migration patterns, focusing on environmental displacement as a critical issue of global concern. As climate change intensifies, many communities face the loss of livelihoods, homes, and resources, leading to increased migration. The research begins with a literature review that outlines the relationship between climate change and migration, highlighting case studies of communities affected by extreme weather events and rising sea levels. Utilizing a mixed-methods approach, the study collects quantitative data on migration trends and qualitative interviews with displaced individuals and policymakers. The findings reveal that environmental factors are increasingly driving migration decisions, with vulnerable populations disproportionately affected. Additionally, the research highlights the challenges faced by displaced communities in terms of access to resources and integration into new areas. The study concludes with policy recommendations for governments to develop comprehensive strategies that address the root causes of climate-induced migration, emphasizing the need for international cooperation and support for affected communities.
