The Economic Impact of Electric Vehicle Adoption on Local Economies
Abstract
This study investigates the economic impact of electric vehicle (EV) adoption on local economies in Central America. As governments promote sustainable transportation to combat climate change, understanding the economic implications of EV adoption is crucial. The research employs a mixed-methods approach, analyzing economic data on EV sales, infrastructure development, and consumer behavior, alongside qualitative interviews with stakeholders in the automotive and energy sectors. Findings indicate that increased EV adoption can lead to job creation in manufacturing, maintenance, and charging infrastructure, as well as reduced fuel costs for consumers. However, challenges such as high initial costs and inadequate charging infrastructure are also identified. The study emphasizes the need for supportive policies, including incentives for consumers and investments in charging networks, to facilitate EV adoption. The findings highlight the potential of electric vehicles to drive economic growth while contributing to environmental sustainability. This research provides valuable insights for policymakers and businesses seeking to harness the economic benefits of electric vehicle technology.
