Exegetical Study Of Matt 18,20 And Application To African Ujamaa Aspirations: A Re-Enactment Of Igbo Communalism
Abstract
Communalism is a widely recognized concept in African life. Communal living is the order. Notably, the Igbo society is pivotal and can be seen in their social structures. The Igbo say, “Igbo enwe eze” (the Igbo people have no king). Scholars like Nwosu (1991) list issues of communalism in other parts of Africa that utilize similar structures. This study aims to explore this communal aspect in relation to the teachings of Matthew 18:20, establishing connections between scripture and the cultural ethos of the Igbo people.
