Abstract

Globalization, characterized by the increasing interconnectedness and interdependence of nations through economic, technological, and cultural exchange, exerts a profound and multifaceted influence on local cultures worldwide. This research explores the dynamic interplay between global forces and localized traditions, examining the various ways in which globalization shapes, challenges, and transforms cultural identities and practices. It investigates phenomena such as cultural homogenization, where dominant global forms (e.g., consumerism, media, language) can lead to the erosion of unique local customs and values. Simultaneously, the study delves into cultural hybridization (glocalization), recognizing how global elements are often adapted and integrated with local specificities, giving rise to new and unique cultural expressions. Furthermore, it considers instances of cultural resistance and revitalization, where communities actively work to preserve, revive, and promote their distinct heritage in the face of globalizing pressures. By analyzing these complex processes—ranging from shifts in language and traditional practices to changes in social norms and collective identity—this research aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of globalization's diverse impacts on the world's rich tapestry of local cultures.
